Truck Height May Have Caused Fatal Big Rig Crash On I-35

big rig accident lawyer San Antonio

One is confirmed dead and another three injured after a crash on an Interstate 35 bridge in Salado, Texas.

This morning at around 11am, emergency personnel responded to reports of a serious crash on Interstate 35 in Salado, Texas. The Texas Department of Transportation has confirmed that the crash and subsequent partial bridge collapse was caused by a tractor-trailer that clipped a beam on the under-construction overpass.

The impact of the truck caused several of the bridge's beams to dislodge and fall onto the roadway, causing subsequent crashes. The driver that was killed in the crash was traveling under the bridge at the time the beams fell. Three other people were injured in the crash, but none of them are thought to be in critical condition. Another pickup truck and three other semi-trucks were involved in the crash.

Although an investigation is pending and nothing has been confirmed yet, The Texas Department of Transportation said that the size of the truck may have caused the crash. The height of the bridge is 13 feet, 6 inches. Any truck higher than 14 feet must obtain a special permit that classifies it as an "oversized load."

This story is still developing, so it will be interesting to learn where the fault lies. Whatever the case, these victims deserve justice. Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims of this crash as well as their families.
