Product recalls for august 13, 2015

At Wyatt Law Firm we take consumer safety very seriously. We believe that customers should not have to worry about physical injuries resulting from products that are supposed to be tested and safe. Like the Consumer Product Safety Commission, we feel that our clients should be aware of dangerous products that are being recalled.

9 month-old baby killed in big rig trucking accident

On Monday, August 3rd, a mother and her two sons crashed into a big rig that was parked on Highway 249 in Montgomery County. The DPS looked into the accident, attempting to uncover the cause. They noted that the truck was parked illegally in a moving traffic lane, with the emergency flashers on. The mother had been on the phone at the time of the crash. The accident resulted in the death of the driver's 9-month-old son, who was strapped in his car seat in the back of the car. He died instantly.

Three-Alarm Condo Fire Injures Two

Two people were injured in a three-alarm fire that spread through the Belleza Condominiums in Ponte Vedra, St. Johns County, Florida this morning. Although this fire occurred in Florida, the news hits close to home for those who have been affected by recent San Antonio-area building fires, such as the Wedgwood Senior Living Center, Villa Tranchese apartment fire, and the La Paloma apartment fire.

Permian Basin, Eagle Ford Traffic Fatalities Reach Near 700 in 2014

Last year, traffic fatalities in the Permian Basin increased 16 percent from 365 to 424 while traffic fatalities in the Eagle Ford Shale region increased 13 percent from 240 to 272. In both regions combined, there were approximately 8,600 accidents that resulted in injury or fatality. Accidents in this region are attributed to - in large part, and in some cases, almost exclusively - to the drilling and fracking booms in these areas. The Permian Basin alone accounts for 14% of domestic oil production.
