Two Workers Missing After Amistad Dam Crane Accident

Two workers have gone missing after a crane accident during routine work at Amistad Dam in Del Rio, just over 2.5 hours west of San Antonio.

Search and rescue teams are searching for two workers that went missing after a crane accident at Amistad Dam in Del Rio, Texas. According to reports from the International Boundary and Water Commission, the crane that was carrying the two workers dumped them in the water. The cause is unknown.

At the time of the accident, the two workers were at the pressure washing gate performing their regular duties. The crane, which was located at the top of the dam, tipped over and dumped the workers into the water. Soon after the accident, people began swimming around the area trying to find the workers, but to no avail.

The company said that no cranes would operate again until the cause of the accident has been determined, although they did say that the dam was not damaged in the accident and there seems to be no additional threat to public safety.

Amistad Dam is located in Del Rio, Texas, about 153 miles west of San Antonio. The dam crosses the Rio Grande and an international boundary with Mexico. Amistad Dam is operated and maintained by the International Boundary and Water Commission. The road leading to the dam has been closed since February 26 because of geological drilling in the area.

Although the cause of the accident has not yet been determined, it could have been any number of things. In many cases, workers are injured because of hazardous conditions at the workplace. When companies do not take the necessary measures to provide a safe working environment, construction and industrial workers can be seriously injured or killed.
