Abilene, TX (September 17, 2022) – A 70-year-old woman was killed as a result of a traffic collision in Abilene on Thursday evening. At around 530 p.m., on September 15, the Abilene Police Department responded to a crash on Elmdale Road.
Preliminary reports provided by APD show that a 70-year-old woman from Clyde, Texas, was driving westbound on Farm to Market Road 18 in an SUV. At the same time, a pickup truck was traveling eastbound on the same roadway.
For unknown reasons, the pickup truck attempted to turn onto Elmdale Road from Farm to Market Road 18. As a result, the two vehicles collided. At least one of the vehicles involved in the crash caught fire immediately following.
The pickup driver and SUV driver were both left with significant injuries.
One person passed away as a result of their injuries. The victim was identified as a 70-year-old woman.
The crash remains under investigation by the Abilene Police Department at this time.
