El Paso, TX (February 8, 2023) – A fatal crash reported in the El Paso area claimed one woman’s life. On February 5, the El Paso Police and firefighters responded to a crash that was reported in the downtown area.
According to preliminary reports from the police, a 20-year-old man was speeding on Stanton Street while traveling in the wrong direction. As his 2014 Camaro proceeded through the 600 block of Stanton Street, it crashed head-on into a 2012 Dodge journey.
The police responded to the site of the crash and blocked off Stanton Street near Missouri Avenue.
The driver of the Camaro and the driver of the Dodge, a 41-year-old woman, were both transported to area hospitals for medical care. Authorities confirmed that the woman, who was from Sunland Park, New Mexico, passed away from her injuries after arriving.
The Camaro’s driver was taken into police custody and later charged with intoxicated manslaughter as a result of this crash.
The El Paso Police Department is currently investigating the crash.
