Fatal Car Accidents in Texas

Houston, TX – One Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on E Sam Houston ParkwayFatal collisions are the cause of thousands of deaths annually in the state of Texas. These crashes are often caused by drivers who engage in reckless and negligent actions. Leading causes of crashes include:

  • Inattention: Drivers who are not paying attention to their surroundings can cause accidents. This is especially a problem on rural roads and highways, where there is a greater chance for distractions.
  • Distracted driving: Cell phone use while driving is now considered a form of distracted driving. Even if you are not using your phone, talking or listening to music can make you less aware of your surroundings and increase your chances of being involved in a crash.
  • Weather conditions: Poor weather conditions can also be a factor in crashes. If it’s raining or snowing, for example, drivers may be less able to see traffic around them and make safe decisions.
  • Impaired drivers: Crashes caused by drivers who are drunk or high on drugs are on the rise in Texas. Drivers who are under the influence can have problems stopping their vehicles in time to avoid collisions.
