Houston, TX (January 31, 2023) – One person died following a major head-on collision that took place early Sunday morning and left multiple people injured. On January 29, the Harris County Sheriff’s office responded to the scene of a traffic accident that took place on Interstate 45.
According to law enforcement, at around 5:45 a.m., a sergeant with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office was on his way to work while traveling on Interstate 45 when he was involved in a head-on collision on the northbound side of the interstate near Gulf Bank Road.
Authorities responded to the scene of the accident and immediately secured the area.
One person involved in the crash was fatally hurt. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sgt. and multiple other victims suffered injuries in the crash. Several people were transported to area hospitals for emergency treatment.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time.
