Fatal Car Accidents in Texas
Fatal crashes in Texas took the lives of more than 4400 people in 2021 alone. This number accounts for approximately 10% of all fatal accidents reported in the United States. Even though our state has several laws in place to protect motorists, we continue to see people lose their lives as a result of negligence.
There are many different causes of fatal accidents in Texas, but the most common ones are:
- Speeding: A driver who is speeding can dramatically increase their chances of getting into an accident. Speeding can also lead to fatigue and decreased reaction time, which can lead to an accident.
- Drinking and driving: Drinking and driving is a major cause of car accidents in Texas. Alcohol consumption impairs a driver’s ability to operate a vehicle safely, and it can also leads to drowsy driving. If you are operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, you are putting yourself and other drivers in danger.
- Distracted driving: Distracted driving is a major cause of car accidents in Texas. Distracted drivers are often texting or talking on a cell phone while they are driving, and they may not be aware of their surroundings. If you are distracted while you are behind the wheel, you increase your chances of getting into an accident.
