Kingsville, TX (October 1, 2021) – Officers with the Kingsville Police Department were called to the scene of a deadly crash on Tuesday, September 28th. The accident occurred along U.S. Highway 77 near the intersection with E. Corral Avenue.
According to a report from officials, a man was driving a pickup truck northbound on Highway 77. The truck was pulling a trailer when the trailer became unhitched and traveled across the median into the southbound lanes. While in the southbound lanes, the trailer hit a Ford F-150 head-on. Following impact, the Ford struck a guardrail and flipped before coming to rest.
The driver of the Ford, 46-year-old Jonathan Limas, of Wesalco, was ejected from his truck. Limas was later pronounced dead at the crash scene. The driver originally stopped at the scene but later fled before police could arrive.
A search for the driver is underway at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kingsville Police Department or Kingsville Crime Stoppers. There are no further details available.
