Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Texas
Pedestrian crashes took the lives of 800 people in 2021 in the state of Texas. Unfortunately, these accidents continue to have a negative impact on the lives of families day after day in our state. There are many reasons why drivers might fail to see pedestrians or yield the right of way, but some of the most common causes include driver inattention, running red lights, and failing to yield.
Driver inattention is a leading cause of accidents, and it’s especially dangerous when pedestrians are involved. If you’re walking or biking, make sure you’re always aware of your surroundings and never assume that drivers will see you.
Running red lights is another major cause of pedestrian accidents. Drivers who run red lights often don’t see pedestrians who have the right of way, resulting in serious collisions.
Failing to yield the right of way is another common cause of pedestrian accidents. Whether it’s at a crosswalk or an intersection, always be cautious when crossing the street and make sure that drivers have stopped before proceeding.
If your loved one has died as a result of a fatal pedestrian accident, your family may have legal options available to help you move forward. You may be entitled to recover financial compensation by filing a legal claim against the responsible driver.
Wrongful death lawsuits can be incredibly time-consuming and complicated, so it’s important to consult with an experienced Lubbock wrongful death lawyer before proceeding. An attorney can review the circumstances of your case and help you understand your legal options.
