The driver did not suffer serious injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
We hope the driver injured in this accident recovers quickly.
Our condolences are with the family of the man who lost his life due to this pedestrian accident.
Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Texas
Hundreds of crashes are reported annually in Texas that take the lives of innocent pedestrians. In many instances, these accidents are caused by negligent drivers.
One of the leading causes of fatal pedestrian accidents is distracted driving. When drivers are distracted, they’re not paying complete attention to the road and may not see pedestrians in time to avoid an accident.
Other common factors in pedestrian accidents include speeding and impaired driving. Both of these behaviors dramatically increase the risk of a crash due to the fact that they make it harder for drivers to stop in time or navigate safely around pedestrians. Impaired driving also increases the likelihood of driver error, which can take the lives of pedestrians should they go onto the sidewalk or pass through a designated crossing area while it is occupied by a pedestrian.
If you have lost a loved one as a result of a fatal pedestrian accident, you may be able to sue for financial compensation to cover some of your losses. This can include recovering money for:
- General damages
- Loss of inheritance
- Loss of support services
- Loss of future earnings
- Funeral expenses
- Medical expenses
- Loss of companionship
- Pain and suffering
- Loss of benefits
- Punitive damages
