Midland, TX (January 9, 2023) – A traffic crash was reported in the Midland area on Saturday afternoon that claimed the life of a 76-year-old woman. On January 7, the Midland Police Department responded to a traffic crash on Highway 349.

According to law enforcement, at around 1:36 p.m., a Chevy Crossover was traveling north on the inside lanes of Highway 349. At the same time, the Honda Civic was traveling in the same direction on the outside lane of the roadway.

As the vehicles proceeded through the intersection of Maverick Lane, a westbound Ford F250 pickup truck failed to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign while attempting to make a turn onto the northbound side of the road. As a result, the Ford collided with both the Chevy and the Honda.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 76-year-old woman from Lamesa, Texas, suffered significant injuries. She was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital, where she later passed away from her injuries.

The driver of the Ford was cited for their failure to yield the right-of-way. No other injuries were reported.

The Midland Police Department is currently investigating the crash.

Our sympathies are with the family of the woman who died in his fatal car crash.
