Penitas, TX (January 19, 2023) – A car crash reported on Monday in Penitas sent one person to a local hospital with injuries. On January 16, authorities were called to the scene of a traffic accident that took place on Expressway 83.
According to reports, a police officer with the La Joya Police Department was attempting to conduct a traffic stop involving a blue Ford expedition on Expressway 83. The driver of the vehicle attempted to flee the scene, causing a pursuit to occur.
The pursuit continued until they reached the area of Expressway 83 and Main Street when the patrol vehicle became involved in a collision with the second vehicle. The expedition fled the scene.
The police officer was injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
