Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Texas
Fatal pedestrian accidents can be incredibly devastating. Unfortunately, hundreds of people lose their lives as a result of fatal pedestrian accidents every year in our state. There are many cases where innocent people, especially teens, are fatally injured in crashes caused by drivers who are negligent.
Speeding drivers are one of the leading causes of pedestrian fatalities. All it takes is a split second for a driver to lose control and strike a pedestrian. Unfortunately, many drivers believe that they can get away with speeding and fail to realize the dangers it poses. Regrettably, pedestrians stand very little chance against drivers who are speeding in vehicles that weigh several thousands of pounds.
Drivers who fail to yield are also responsible for a number of pedestrian fatalities each year here in Texas. Whether they’re turning onto a busy street or pulling out of a parking spot, drivers who don’t yield to pedestrians put them at serious risk.
Finally, distractions are another common factor that contributes to fatal auto accidents every day in our state. Given the dramatic increase in the number of people who utilize their cell phones while behind the wheel, it is no surprise that so many accidents involving pedestrians continue to take place.
