Ropesville, TX (May 2, 2022) – An auto accident reported on Friday in Hockley County claimed one man’s life. At around 10:30 a.m., on April 29, the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of an auto accident on US Highway 62/82.
According to reports, a pickup truck was traveling south on the highway during the evening hours. For unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway, crossed over the center median, and struck an SUV in the northbound lanes. An SUV ahead of the SUV that was hit swerved to avoid the collision.
A passenger in one SUV, a 63-year-old man, suffered severe injuries. He was rushed to University Medical Center in Lubbock where he passed away from his injuries.
Two other people were treated for injuries.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
