Pedestrian Accidents in Texas

San Antonio, TX – Woman on Electric Scooter Struck by Vehicle at E Commerce St & Navarro StEvery year, thousands of people are heard as a result of auto accidents that occur in the state of Texas. Many victims require extensive medical treatment for severe injuries that they suffer. In many instances, people are using electric scooters at the time of their accidents.

Reports provided by the report from the Consumer Product Safety Commission indicate that the number of injuries reported in accidents involving people who are using e-bikes, scooters, and hoverboards increased by 70% between 2017 and 2020. A study from The National Library of Medicine shows most scooter riders found that the majority of victims involved in these accidents end up suffering from orthopedic injuries. Auto accidents are the second leading cause of injuries to scooters in the country.

Like other pedestrians, these people do not have any protection during accidents. They are completely vulnerable to suffering severely broken bones, trauma to the head, and even spinal cord injuries. In many cases, innocent people are hurt as a result of accidents caused by driver negligence. Leading factors in accidents include:

  • Drivers who have been drinking before operating their vehicle.
  • Drivers who are traveling at too high of a speed.
  • Drivers who are using their cell phones or are distracted while operating their vehicles.
  • Drivers who fail to yield to others.
