Fatal Auto Accidents in Texas

Smyer, TX – One Killed in Three-Vehicle Collision on TX-114Every day, more than 10 people die as a result of fatal crashes that take place in the state of Texas. Many of these accidents involve some form of negligence. Some of the leading factors in car crashes across our state are:

  • Speeding: When motorists fail to maintain a safe speed while operating their vehicles, they increase the risk of losing control. Unfortunately, speeding can also increase the severity of any injuries suffered during crashes.
  • Distractions: We have seen a significant increase in the number of accidents that take place in Texas due to distractions. When drivers are texting on their phones, eating food, or even talking to passengers, they place the lives of everyone else on the road at risk. A moment of inattention can cause a serious and life-changing accident.
  • Impairment: There are thousands of accidents reported in Texas every year that are caused by drivers who are drunk or under the influence of drugs. Being under the influence of any type of intoxicant can significantly impact a driver’s judgment and reaction time. This can lead to a serious collision that results in injuries or death for those involved.
  • Recklessly switching lanes: When drivers switch lanes in a reckless manner, they are more likely to lose control of their vehicles and crash into others. This is particularly true if they are traveling on icy road conditions, which can make it nearly impossible for motorists to control their vehicles.
