Terrell, TX (October 3, 2021) – A 13-year-old child was killed in a four-vehicle accident that took place in Terrell on Saturday evening. The accident was reported just before 11:00 p.m. on Interstate 20 near mile marker 513.
According to officials from the Texas Department of Public Safety, four cars were traveling eastbound on I-20 when traffic slowed because of an accident in the area. A Toyota Highlander was among the vehicles that came to a stop. A black Dodge Ram was traveling directly behind the Toyota. The driver of the Ram failed to slow down and collided with the back of the Highlander. The Highlander was pushed forward into another vehicle before coming to rest.
There were three occupants in the Highlander at the time of the accident. Two were taken to area hospitals in unknown conditions. A 13-year-old child in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other significant injuries reported. Motorists were asked to avoid the area while the crash was cleared.
Police continue to investigate the accident at this time. There is no word on any potential charges and no further information is available.
