Montgomery County, TX – Four Injured in Prison Van Crash on I-45 near FM 1097

Montgomery County, TX (June 8, 2022) – Several people were transported to area hospitals with injuries following an auto accident that took place in Montgomery County on Tuesday morning. T around 2:30 a.m., on June 7, calls for assistance came in surrounding an auto accident on Interstate 45.

Reports from the police indicate that a red truck was traveling on the northbound side of Interstate 45 during the morning hours. For unknown reasons, the truck spun out and was involved in a collision with a Texas Department of Criminal Justice Van near Farm to Market Road 1097.

Three guards and the inmate on the bus were injured as a result of the accident. The inmate and one correctional officer were transported to Memorial Hermann in the Woodlands for the treatment of injuries. A second correctional officer and a Sgt. were both transported to HCA in Conroe for further medical care.

The driver of the red truck, a 27-year-old man, was arrested and charged with two counts of intoxication assault.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
