Amarillo, TX (February 14, 2022) – A two-vehicle accident reported in Potter County on Thursday afternoon claimed one person’s life. At around 3:35 p.m., on February 10, emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at a crash on Texas State Highway 136.
Reports from authorities show that a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 43-year-old Ericka McCann was traveling south on Texas State Highway 136. For unknown reasons, the vehicle collided with a northbound 2019 GMC Terrain near Farm to Market Road 1912.
The impact of the crash caused the GMC to slide off the roadway and spin around before landing in a ditch. The Tahoe then slid around and struck the GMC a second time.
The driver of the GMC, 73-year-old Larry Casey, sustained serious injuries in the crash and was rushed to Amarillo Northwest Texas Healthcare System. His passenger, 72-year-old Julie Casey, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
McCann was transported to Amarillo Northwest Texas Healthcare System with serious injuries.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
