Andrews, TX (February 21, 2022) – One man has lost his life as a result of a truck crash on Friday evening, February 18. At around 6:45 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of a crash on Farm to Market Road 1788.
Reports from DPS indicate that a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and a Ford F-250 pickup truck were both traveling south on Farm to Market Road 1788. At the same time, a Kenworth semi-truck was traveling north on the same road. A Chevrolet 3500 pickup truck towing a trailer was stopped off the side of the road near a gated entrance to a leased road.
For unknown reasons, the Silverado traveled over to the northbound side of the road and collided with the semi-truck. The vehicle then collided with the Chevrolet 3500.
One person involved in the accident, 22-year-old Peyton Michael Lewis, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second victim, 59-year-old Lonnie Michael Lewis, was transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock with serious injuries. The driver of the Ford, 39-year-old Pedro Sawatzky Weibe, was transported to Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews for the treatment of undisclosed injuries.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
