Arlington, TX (December 26, 2021) – A young child who suffered severe injuries in a motor vehicle accident on Tuesday evening in the Arlington area has died, according to reports.
At around 8:20 p.m., on December 21, emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at a crash on Interstate 20.
Preliminary investigations show that a Mazda MX5 was traveling through the area of Interstate 20 and Highway 360 in an erratic manner. For unknown reasons, the vehicle crashed into a Toyota Tundra pickup truck.
The impact of the crash caused the pickup truck to go off the roadway, strike a guardrail, and roll over. The vehicle came to rest on its side.
The driver of the Tundra, Joshua Pierite, became pinned inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters. His female passenger, identified as his wife Brooklyn Pierite, was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.
A 2-year-old girl and a 4-year-old girl were in the back seat at the time of the crash. The 2-year-old was airlifted to Cook Children’s Medical Center. On Thursday evening, December 23, the young girl died from her injuries.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
Our thoughts are with Joshua Pierite and Brooklyn Pierite at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the young girl who lost her life in this accident. Our thoughts are with them at this time.
