Ballinger, TX (May 5, 2022) – A 16-year-old teen has lost his life as a result of a motor vehicle accident on Monday evening in Runnels County. On May 2, the Texas Department of Public Safety was dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on US Highway 83.
Reports provided by DPS show that a 16-year-old boy was driving a pickup truck north on US Highway 83. For unknown reasons, the teen pulled his pickup truck onto the right shoulder of the highway.
The pickup truck then became involved in a collision with a minivan that was traveling on the roadway just 3 miles north of Ballinger. The teen was ejected from his vehicle, resulting in severe injuries.
EMS transported the injured teen to Ballinger Memorial Hospital where he passed away from his injuries.
The driver of the minivan, a 47-year-old woman, was transported to Ballinger Memorial hospital for care.
At this time, the Department of Public Safety is investigating the incident.
