Canton, TX (January 20, 2022) – A young girl from California has lost her life following a motor vehicle accident on Wednesday in the Canton area. At around 12:30 p.m., on January 12, emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at a crash on Interstate 20.
Reports from authorities show that 22-year-old Chassity Gantt was driving west on Interstate 20 when her Ford Escape was rear-ended by an 18-wheeler.
A 1-year-old girl in the vehicle was transported to Children’s Hospital in Dallas where she later died from her injuries. A 2-year-old girl was admitted to the same hospital in critical condition.
Gantt was treated at the scene for injuries. A third passenger in her vehicle, 22-year-old Katanni Senegal, was transported to a hospital in Tyler with non-incapacitating injuries.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
