Carthage, TX (February 13, 2022) – One man has lost his life in a pedestrian accident in Panola County on Wednesday, February 9. At around 9:30 p.m., authorities were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at a crash on US Highway 59.
Reports from authorities show that 78-year-old Karl T Oney was walking in the area on US Highway 59 just four miles south of Carthage. For unknown reasons, he was struck by a 2019 Dodge Journey.
The driver of the Journey, Joshua Denmon, remained at the scene. Denmon and his two passengers, Heather Lawrence, and a 1.5-year-old child, were all transported to East Texas Medical Center for care.
Oney suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
