Encinal, TX (July 1, 2022) – A motor vehicle accident reported on Thursday in Encinal took the lives of several people while leaving multiple others injured. On June 30, the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 35.
Reports provided by DPS show that a white Jeep SUV was transporting seven migrants on the northbound side of Interstate 35. The vehicle collided with a semi-truck tractor-trailer in the area just 40 miles north of the US-Mexico border.
Four people inside the Jeep suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Jeep was airlifted from the scene to a local hospital in critical condition. Two other people inside the Jeep were hospitalized with serious injuries.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
