Gilmer, TX (November 14, 2021) – One woman has lost her life following a two-vehicle collision in Upshur County on Friday morning, November 12. At around 8:36 p.m., authorities were called to provide assistance at the scene of a crash on Texas State Highway 300.
Reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety show that 52-year-old Regena Avila was driving a 2003 Toyota Avalon west on Farm to Market Road 726 when her vehicle collided with a 2014 Peterbilt truck at the intersection of Texas State Highway 300.
Avila sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A passenger in the Toyota, 32-year-old Aaron L. Dorsey, was transported to UT-Health East Texas – Tyler for the treatment of critical injuries.
The driver of the truck, 48-year-old Allen Scott, Jr. was transported to Longview Regional Medical Center for care.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
