Groveton, TX (October 22, 2021) – An accident reported in Trinity County claimed one person’s life early Thursday morning, October 21.

At around 6:05 a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of a crash on Texas State Highway 94.

Reports from authorities show that a 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling west on Texas State Highway 94 followed by a 2017 Dodge Ram pickup truck. At the same time, a 1989 Mack truck tractor-trailer pulled out of a private drive in an attempt to travel east.

The driver of the Mack truck failed to yield the right of way. As a result, the truck crashed into the Chevrolet and the Dodge just one mile north of Farm to Market Road 3317.

The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 47-year-old Vernon Groze, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the accident. He was pronounced deceased by responding officers.

The driver of the Dodge, 38-year-old Bradley McMullen, was rushed to Crockett Medical Center for care.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
