Jefferson, TX (January 4, 2022) – An accident reported on Saturday morning in Marion County has claimed one man’s life while leaving a woman with serious injuries. At around 3 p.m., on January 1, emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at a crash on Texas State Highway 49.

Reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety show that 51-year-old Phillip Couch was driving a 2022 Freightliner west on Texas State Highway 49 while towing a trailer. For unknown reasons, the vehicle collided with a 2006 Ford Ranger.

The driver of the Ford, 30-year-old Dustin Coston, suffered fatal injuries in the accident. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Couch was not injured in the crash. His passenger, 37-year-old Ann Rahe, sustained incapacitating injuries and was rushed to a local hospital for care.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.

Our thoughts are with Ann Rahe at this time. We hope for her full recovery.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Dustin Coston. Our thoughts are with them at this time.
