Kermit, TX – Julian Espino-Mendoza Killed in Crash on TX-302 near Black Mountain Sand Plant

Kermit, TX (January 28, 2022) – One man has lost his life following an auto accident in Winkler County. At around 7:40 a.m., on January 27, emergency crews were requested on-site at a crash on Texas State Highway 302.

Reports from local authorities show 30-year-old Julian Espino-Mendoza was driving east on Texas State Highway 302 when a sand hauler pulled out in front of him. As a result, the two vehicles collided near the Black Mountain Sand Plant.

Espino-Mendoza became trapped inside his semi-truck and had to be extricated by the Kermit Volunteer Fire Department. At 9:20 a.m., he was removed from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
