Lubbock, TX – Ronald Lewis Killed in Crash on 50th St near Ave A

Lubbock, TX (December 11, 2021) – An auto accident reported on Thursday evening in the Lubbock area claimed one man’s life while leaving two others injured. At around 7:43 p.m., on December 9, emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at a crash on 50th Street.

Reports from authorities show that 40-year-old Ronald Lewis was driving a Toyota Camry west on East 50th Street. At the same time, a Cadillac SRX was traveling eastbound in the 100 block of East 50th S0treet. As the vehicle attempted to turn north onto Avenue, it crashed into the Toyota. The impact of the crash caused the Toyota to roll over and crash into a light pole.

Lewis sustained fatal injuries in the accident. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A passenger in the Toyota, 38-year-old Kathy Thompson, was transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

The driver of the Cadillac, 23-year-old Juan Castillo, was transported to UMC with minor injuries.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
