Nacogdoches, TX (February 16, 2023) – A man was killed, and two members of his family were injured after they were involved in a crash with an intoxicated driver in Nacogdoches on Wednesday night, February 15.
The deadly accident was reported at the 2800 block of NE Stallings Drive late that evening. It was reported that 49-year-old Jerry Chandler was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck when he failed to slow and rear-ended a Jeep. The impact caused the Jeep to then hit another vehicle before leaving the roadway.
The driver of the Jeep, 69-year-old Griceldo Garcia, was taken to Memorial Hospital along with his wife and 9-year-old grandson. Garcia later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the third vehicle and a 5-year-old passenger were also hurt in the crash.
Chandler was found to be intoxicated and is currently facing charges related to the incident.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash is in progress.
