Nacogdoches, TX – Mardella Nooner Fatally Struck by Vehicle on US-259 near County Rd 104

Nacogdoches, TX (December 19, 2021) – A traffic-related incident reported in the Nacogdoches area claimed one woman’s life. At around 5:20 a.m., on December 15, emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at a crash on US Highway 259.

Reports from local authorities indicate that a pedestrian was crossing at the intersection of US Highway 259 and County Road 104. At the same time, a 2012 Nissan SUV was traveling down the roadway.

For unknown reasons, the SUV struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian, who was identified as 68-year-old Mardella Nooner, sustained fatal injuries in the accident. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the USV, 38-year-old Sharita Bailey, was not injured.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
