Odessa, TX – Michael Joe King Fatally Struck by Vehicle at N Grandview Ave & E 42nd St

Odessa, TX (March 23, 2022) – A pedestrian accident reported on Tuesday morning in Odessa has claimed the life of one person. At around 7 a.m., on March 22, the Odessa Police Department was requested on-site at a motor vehicle accident on North Grandview Avenue.

Reports provided by authorities show that a victim was standing near the left lanes of the 1900 block of East 42nd Street at the intersection of North Grandview Avenue. A red vehicle traveling east on the roadway then struck the pedestrian and fled the scene.

The pedestrian, identified as Michael Joe King, sustained fatal injuries in the crash.

The vehicle, which was identified as a Toyota Corolla, was located by the police. The driver, 25-year-old Christy Contreras, was arrested and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

At this time, the Odessa Police Department is investigating the crash.
