Van Zandt, TX (January 12, 202) – One woman has lost her life as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Van Zandt County on Monday evening, just outside of Ben Wheeler.
At around 4:15 p.m., on January 10, a Mitsubishi Mirage was traveling west on Texas State Highway 64 just eight miles east of Ben Wheeler. As the Mitsubishi stopped for a school bus to unload children, a Chevrolet Trax SUV crashed into the vehicle.
The driver of the Mitsubishi, 42-year-old Toni Powell, sustained fatal injuries in the accident. Powell was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Chevrolet, 71-year-old Mary Robinson, was transported to a local hospital for care.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
