Wilmer, TX (May 24, 2022) – A motor vehicle accident reported in the Wilmer area on Sunday evening has claimed the lives of multiple victims. At around 11:45 p.m., on May 22, the police, firefighters, and medical personnel responded to the scene of an auto accident on Interstate 45.
Reports from local authorities show that a minivan was traveling north on Interstate 45 when it collided head-on with a second vehicle just south of Mars Road. The impact of the crash left both vehicles with significant damage.
A 28-year-old man, identified as a teacher and coach at Palestine Junior High suffered fatal injuries in the accident and died at the scene. His two passengers, identified as Palestine ISD students, were both transported to area hospitals with injuries.
The minivan driver, a 33-year-old woman, and her two juvenile passengers all suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
