Winnsboro, TX (February 13, 2022) – A bicycle accident reported on Tuesday evening in Wood County has claimed one woman’s life. Just after 7:10 p.m., on February 9, emergency crews were notified that they were needed to provide assistance at the scene of a major crash on Farm to Market Road 312.
Reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety show that a 2002 Volkswagen Beetle and a 2021 Toyota Tacoma were both traveling south behind a bicyclist on Farm to Market Road 312.
As the Beetle attempted to pass the cyclist, the two collided. The Toyota then struck the rider.
The bicyclist, 29-year-old Kimberly Dewitt, sustained fatal injuries in the accident and died at the scene.
At this time, DPS is investigating the crash.
