Pedestrian And Officer Injured In Separate Car Crashes

A San Antonio police officer was injured on Wednesday morning, after a car rear-ended the officer’s vehicle. The crash occurred before 10 a.m. near the intersection of Interstate 10 and Interstate 37.

A spokesperson for the SAPD reported that a group was driving in a gray Saturn Sedan. They allegedly drove away from the scene upon the accident. The suspect’s car drove as far as the Houston Street, where they crashed.

Witnesses saw suspects run out of the car, trying to escape the crash scene and the authorities. Officers apprehended two of the suspects, while they continue to search for the last one. The SAPD spokesperson said officers detected alcohol on the driver’s breath and believe he was intoxicated while driving. He will be charged with driving under the influence and evading arrest.

Fortunately, the officer only sustained minor injuries and does not need to be hospitalized.

Meanwhile, Friday, a pedestrian was hit by a car while walking near Loop 1604. The Westbound access road was completely closed as a result.

The SAPD reports that a woman was walking on the access road, when a Honda, west of Northwest Military Highway, struck her. The event occurred around 8 a.m.

The driver stopped to help the woman and will most likely not face charges. The injured woman was transported to the local hospital, where her condition is unclear.

Drivers have a responsibility to pay attention to the roads at all times. If they fail to adhere to the traffic rules, they put both themselves and others at risk. They need to be especially careful to look out for pedestrians. If you or your loved one was hurt in a car accident, you may be eligible to seek compensation.
