El Paso, TX (January 15, 2023) – A fatal pedestrian crash took place on Friday afternoon that claimed the life of a 32-year-old man from Mission Valley, Texas. Just before 1 p.m., on January 13, the Texas Department of Public Safety was requested to provide assistance at the scene of a traffic crash that took place on US Highway 54.
According to DPS, a 2008 Ford F2 50 was traveling on US Highway 54 when a tarp fell out of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, a 43-year-old man, pulled the vehicle to the right side of the road near Fred Wilson Avenue.
A passenger in the Ford, a 32-year-old man, exited the vehicle to pick up the tarp. After exiting, he was struck by a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta.
The man was fatally injured in the crash. Authorities pronounced him deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Volkswagen, a 21-year-old man, remained at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
