Car Accidents in Texas
Being involved in a car crash can change your life instantly. Unfortunately, tens of thousands of people are hospitalized with serious injuries following accidents every year in our state. In many instances, people suffer injuries and accidents caused by driver negligence.
Following a motor vehicle accident, you may be able to pursue legal action against the person who is responsible. Filing a personal injury claim can help you seek financial compensation for medical costs, vehicle repairs, and more. It is important to understand how compensation is provided to victims of car accidents.
In Texas, courts generally follow the comparative negligence doctrine when it comes to providing compensation for crash victims. This doctrine states that a person can seek financial compensation for the injuries and damages they suffer following their accidents. However, if you are found to be more than 51 percent at fault for the accident, you are unable to recover compensation for your damages.
Insurance companies are well aware of the 51% rule here in Texas. For this reason, they will do everything in their power to try to shift the blame onto you following your accident. In order to provide yourself with the best chance of recovering compensation for the damages you suffered, it is important that you work with a car accident lawyer in Fort Worth. An attorney will be able to prove your case and demand compensation for the damages that you have suffered from the defendant.
