Houston, TX (October 5, 2022) – A young child tragically died following a hit-and-run accident that took place on the southwest side of Houston on Saturday evening. On October 1, officers with the Houston Police Department responded to the scene of a crash on Nairn Street.

At approximately 4 p.m., a two-year-old boy was walking in a parking lot located in the 8400 block of Nairn Street, near South Gessner Road in Bissonnet Street. At the same time, a 22-year-old man who was allegedly drunk was traveling at a high rate of speed through the parking lot when he struck the young child.

The young boy suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and was later arrested by officers. He was taken into police custody, where he faces charges of driving while intoxicated, vehicular manslaughter, and failing to stop and render aid.

The Houston Police Department is investigating the collision at this time.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the young child who died as a result of this tragic collision.

Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Texas

Houston, TX – Pedestrian Crash on Nairn St Takes Life of 2-Year-Old BoyVehicle crashes in Texas take the lives of thousands of people annually. Unfortunately, our state continues to rank at the top of the most dangerous states for drivers every year due to the high number of traffic-related fatalities that are reported annually.

There are many instances where people lose their lives as a result of drivers who engage in reckless and negligent actions. Speeding is a major factor in many car accidents and is especially dangerous on highways. Drivers who speed are more likely to lose control of their vehicles and are more likely to cause serious accidents.

Drunk and impaired driving is another major cause of car accidents in Texas. Drivers who are intoxicated are a danger to themselves and other motorists on the road, and their judgment is impaired. This can lead to them making poor decisions, such as speeding or driving recklessly.

Distracted driving is also a leading cause of car accidents. Drivers who are distracted by their cell phones or other devices are more likely to cause accidents. Distracted driving can also lead to speeding and other dangerous behaviors.
