Laredo, TX (October 28, 2021) – A woman and young child were both left with serious injuries following an accident in the Laredo area on Monday, October 25.
At around 4:44 p.m., emergency crews were notified that a crash took place on Interstate 35 that required assistance.
Reports from the Laredo police show that a white 2012 Nissan Rogue and a white 2019 Ford F-750 work truck were involved in a collision in the 5300 block of Interstate 35. The crash caused moderate delays in traffic along the interstate in the area near the Mall del Norte.
Further investigations found that the Nissan had stalled out on the interstate due to a mechanical issue. The vehicle was then struck by the Ford, which caused the Nissan to move forward and crash into the middle divider.
The two people inside the Nissan, 53-year-old Ana Delia Arriaga and a 12-year-old girl, both became trapped inside the vehicle. The two victims were extricated by firefighters. Arriaga was transported to Doctors’ Hospital via ambulance. The young girl was airlifted to the same hospital.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
Our thoughts are with Ana Delia Arriaga and the girl injured in this accident. We hope for their full recovery.
Car Accidents in Texas
Every year, more than 205,000 people are injured in motor vehicle accidents across the state of Texas. Around 23% of crashes that take place in our state result in rear-end collisions. When smaller vehicles are struck by large trucks, vans, and SUVs, the chances of victims suffering severe injuries are greatly increased.
People who are harmed in these accidents often have to go through extensive medical care. Most victims require surgery and have to remain hospitalized for several days. Following their release, victims will most likely require months of therapy and rehabilitation. Dealing with the costs of care can seem nearly impossible. This is especially true when victims are unable to return to work.
Having to take time off work and dealing with life-altering consequences can dramatically impact your quality of life.
