Fatal Car Accidents in Texas
The last time the state of Texas saw one day with no traffic-related fatalities was November 7, 2000. In the 21 years since that day, more than 70,000 people have lost their lives while traveling in our state. Motor vehicle accidents in Texas take the lives of more than 3,900 people each year. Accidents involving semi-trucks and commercial vehicles account for more than 530 fatal crashes. These vehicles are much larger than other passenger vehicles sharing the road. As a result, they are more likely to be destructive in collisions.
When victims lose their lives in crashes, their families are often forced to endure overwhelming consequences. Dealing with mental and emotional pain and suffering is only made worse by the financial consequences they face. Many families have to cover funeral expenses, medical costs, and deal with the loss of a source of income they have grown to depend on.
Victims can lose their lives in crashes for a variety of reasons. Sharing roads with drivers who are speeding, impaired, or distracted can drastically increase the chances that accidents will occur.
