Fatal Truck Accidents in Texas
The last time the state of Texas saw one day with no traffic-related fatalities was November 7, 2000. In the 21 years since that day, more than 70,000 people have lost their lives while traveling in our state. Motor vehicle accidents in Texas take the lives of more than 3,900 people each year. Accidents involving semi-trucks and commercial vehicles account for more than 530 fatal crashes. These vehicles are much larger than other passenger vehicles sharing the road. As a result, they are more likely to be destructive in collisions.
Nearly 80% of crashes in our state can be contributed to some form of negligence. Some of the most common factors associated with truck accidents include:
- Driving while impaired
- Driving while distracted
- Drowsy driving
- Engaging in reckless driving behaviors
When victims are killed in motor vehicle crashes, due to the negligence of others, families may have legal options available to help them move forward. Seeking the assistance of a wrongful death lawyer in San Marcos can help you get justice.
