Shamrock, TX (March 8, 2023) – A man was killed following a hit-and-run crash in Shamrock on Friday morning, March 3.
The deadly accident took place on Interstate 40 in Wheeler County near the Oklahoma-Texas borderline. At around 8:20 a.m., a 2020 Volvo truck tractor semi-trailer was headed westbound when it experienced a blown tire. The 54-year-old Sacramento man operating the rig got out to change the tire.
A second westbound vehicle reportedly hit the man as he was outside the rig. The motorist fled the scene. The suspect vehicle was later found outside of Tucumcari, New Mexico, and the driver was later apprehended.
An ongoing investigation into the deadly crash is underway.
