Tyler, TX (December 20, 2021) – A man and woman have lost their lives as a result of a motor vehicle accident in the Tyler area. At around 4:30 p.m., on December 16, the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of a crash on US Highway 69.
Reports from DPS show that a 2001 Chevrolet SUV was traveling south on US Highway 69 when it entered the northbound lanes and crashed into a 2017 Ford passenger vehicle.
The driver of the Ford, 84-year-old Doyle Cowart, and his passenger, 81-year-old Kathy Cowart, were both fatally injured. Authorities arrived at the scene and pronounced the two victims deceased.
The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to CHRISTUS St Elizabeth for the treatment of undisclosed injuries.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
